Enpark continue to support and organize industry focused events like Solar Days and the ‘The Green Building’ series training workshops aimed at educating professionals, government employees and students on the science behind renewable energy applications.
Light Bulb Recycling Campaign
In association with WWF (EWS-WWF), Enpark launched a light bulb recycling campaign since June 2010. The campaign aims to exchange old, conventional light bulbs for new, energy-efficient ones.
Some bulbs use toxic mercury and disposing them in the trash often breaks their fragile glass casing, releasing mercury into the environment. Even if the bulbs manage to remain intact after being trashed, these products likely end up in landfills and incinerators where they will eventually release toxic chemicals. On the other hand, recycling crushes the bulbs in a controlled environment and eliminates such risks, and almost all parts of the old bulb are re-used. So far, 32,643 bulbs have been recycled at ENPARK’s facilities in a process supervised by IDAMA Property Services. Once a bulb is recycled, ENPARK offers an energy efficient bulb as a replacement. EWS-WWF, as part of its ‘Heroes of the UAE’ campaign, encourages residents of the UAE to replace conventional light bulbs with energy efficient lights such as Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs) or Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs).
Clean Up the World’ Campaign
As one of TECOM Business Parks portfolio brands, Enpark participated in the ‘Clean Up the World’ 2010 campaign. During this event, TECOM Business Parks distributed nearly 400 jute bags and 150 recycling bins to business partners during the campaign that is organised in collaboration with Dubai Municipality. TECOM Business Parks’ involvement confirms its commitment to social responsibility and ongoing endeavour to contribute to the community.
